Microchipping should be a top priority for all cat owners. Having your cat microchipped gives you the best chance of being reunited with them if they get lost or stolen.   
 
The microchipping law has only been introduced in England at the current time. If you missed the June 2024 deadline and didn't take action to have your cat microchipped within the 21 days following it, you may face a fine of up to £500.
